Social Interactions What functions do status, role, primary groups, and secondary groups play in social interactions between different racial and ethnic groups. List one example of each. Respond to at least two of your classmates' postings. Status is a person's place in a group or society. This can range from President of the united states, to a persons place in their own family (son, daughter, niece, etc). Role according to the text is a set of expectations for people who occupy a given positon/status. For) example, we expect a cashier to smile and greet us and ring our order without error. Another example would be that we expect a police officer to jump in and help in a situation, even if he were off duty. (Schaefer, 2009, pg 107). Primary groups are usually family( though not necessarily blood). I have a few really close friends whom I would personally call before any family in certain situations, and truse them to keep things between us. Family doesn't always mean your parents or siblings. Secondary groups are coworkers, people you may know but arent god friends with, classmate4s, etc.
