Social Interactions What functions do status, role, primary groups, and secondary groups play in social interactions between different racial and ethnic groups. List one example of each. Respond to at least two of your classmates' postings. Status is a person's place in a group or society. This can range from President of the united states, to a persons place in their own family (son, daughter, niece, etc). Role according to the text is a set of expectations for people who occupy a given positon/status. For) example, we expect a cashier to smile and greet us and ring our order without error. Another example would be that we expect a police officer to jump in and help in a situation, even if he were off duty. (Schaefer, 2009, pg 107). Primary groups are usually family( though not necessarily blood). I have a few really close friends whom I would personally call before any family in certain situations, and truse them to keep things between us. Family doesn't always mean your parents or siblings.

What students are saying

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

I cannot even describe how much Course Hero helped me this summer. It’s truly become something I can always rely on and help me. In the end, I was not only able to survive summer classes, but I was able to thrive thanks to Course Hero.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
