Unformatted text preview: Myers Elliotte Brandi Quesenberry Comm. 1015 MBM Paper 11-3-2008 Helping in Costa Rica “People read the Gospel as if it pertained to another place and time, but the struggles described there are in the here and now.” My senior year I got the chance to go on a mission trip to help kids at an orphanage in Costa Rica. This trip changed my perspective on how to live, and what is most important in my life. The ride through poor areas of Costa Rica and finally helping these kids was so enjoyable and worthwhile. Knowing I helped change someone’s life is really important to me. After reading Mountains Beyond Mountains, it showed me that my experience in Costa Rica was worthwhile and that it is the right thing to do. We first arrived arrived in rainy San Jose, Costa Rica late at night and stayed at a compound in the city that night. The next day we talked to the leaders of the missions group, they told us how many kids in Costa Rica were poor and were orphans.
