Aneurysm Cerebral- brain blood vessel Aortic- aorta High blood pressure increases the risk of rupture Stroke (Cerebral Hemorrhage) Artery in brain to rupture, cuts off blood flow (O2) to part of the brain Blockage of artery TIA- minor stroke Temporary blindness, speech Trans ischemic attack Atherosclerosis- hardening of blood vessels Arteriosclerosis- hardening of the arteries Very elastic Hypertension- arteries expand and lose their elasticity Caused by elevated levels of cholesterol Smoking increases chance 2-6xs Diabetes Coronary Artery Disease Arteriosclerosis of coronary artery Blockages- plaque, cholesterol Heart and Circulation Problems Angina- restriction of the coronary artery Resulting in less Oxygen to the heart muscle, causes chest pain Take Nitroglycerin- dilates Coronary Artery Thrombosis- Clot that plugs the artery, cuts off circulation to that part of the heart Causes a heart attack
