Notes 2/9 Rules for mimicry to work -model must have some kind of offensive characteristic and be easily recognizable -model must be more common than the mimic -model must be more widely distributed and sympatric with the mimic -model must be present at the same time of year as the mimic Warnings -Aposematic colors: bright colors, advertisement (reds, orange, yellow, = black), striking colors easily recognized -Aposematic Sounds: Population- a collection of individuals of one species which occupy a particular area at the same time. Involves, interaction, competition, mating, feeding and seeking shelter. May or may not be social. Species- All organisms which share a common gene pool (reproduce with one another) and are reproductively isolated from all other such groups (biological species concept). Random-Distribution of Box turtles- won’t ever see them together or more than one in the same day Clumped- Distribution of Baboons- Will be together with where the resources are. Even- Distribution of Birds- Set of protected areas for themselves but not necessarily together but
