Average temperature for body is 98.6 degrees F 86 degrees F- loss of muscle coordination, eyes fixed, heart irregular 77 degrees F- cardiac arrhythmia, death In water 55 degrees, hypothermia can occur in as little as 20-30 minutes 107 degree fever causes death Poikilotherms- body temperature varies with environmental temperature. Cold blooded. Lack internal temperature control Ways to regulate heat Increase activity – increase metabolism= increase heat. Fish generally are poikilothemic except for tuna and sharks Behavioral thermoregulation- sun to warm up, shade to cool down
