The principal issue in this article is about the presence of our troops in South Korea now deterring us instead of North Korea. 2 Identify any examples of bias presented by the author. If none exist, explain how you determined this. This article is completely opinionated and one-sided, therefore completely biased. 3 Identify any areas that are vague or ambiguous. If none exist, explain how you determined this. After reading this article, I did not feel the author left any room for question. His opinions were clearly stated throughout the reading. 4 Do you find the source credible? Explain your reasoning. I found no credibility within this article. It was completely based upon personal opinions. 5 Identify and name any rhetorical devices used by the author. If none exist, explain how you determined this. I felt the author was attempting to appeal to the readers personal emotions, thus using a rhetorical device of a persuasive argument 6 Identify and name any fallacies used by the author. If none exist, explain how you determined this. When the author said that South and North Korea have more Koreans resulting in an absent need for US military, I felt he was using a weak analogy fallacy. 7 State one argument made by the author. One argument I noticed within the article is when the author said the presence of our military caused North Korea to be “meaner” than if we were not there. 8 Identify the premises and conclusion of the argument. The premise of the argument is that in an attempt to be able to defend South Korea, we need to vacate North Korea. The conclusion is because we are no longer a deterrent to leave. 9 Is the author’s argument valid or invalid, sound or unsound, strong or weak? Explain how you determined this. Because the author tends to focus on general population instead of military numbers, I viewed this argument to be very invalid, weak and unsound.
