Marks awarded for sections of questions are shown in brackets after the relevant section. Only silent, self contained calculators with a Single-Line Display, or Dual-Line Display are permitted in this examination. Dictionaries are not allowed with one exception. Those whose first language is not English may use a standard translation dictionary to translate between that language and English provided that neither language is the subject of this examination. Subject specific translation dictionaries are not permitted. No electronic devices capable of storing and retrieving text, including electronic dictionaries, may be used. You should spend about an hour and a half on this section. 1. (a) The circuit in Figure Q1(a) represents a Schmitt trigger. The output voltage from the comparator is 10 V. Determine and state i) The Upper Trigger Point [1 mark] ii) The Lower Trigger Point [1 mark] iii) The Hysteresis. [1 mark] Figure Q1(a) (b) A square wave oscillator is shown in Figure Q1(b).
