Torres, J 2 Interview Summary This report analyzes the wages, work conditions, and education between Graphic Design careers and Photography careers for my client Jessica Torres. Graphic Designers vs. Photographers Education Level Even though the careers are similar there is a big difference in the education level required to succeed. For a photographer you do not need any degrees whereas Graphic Designers you do need at least an Associates. The equipment needed for either of the two careers are similar and are both very expensive. To be a photographer you need more physical equipment then someone who is a graphic designer. Graphic Designer simply needs a computer with the necessary programs. Graphic Designer vs. Photographer Salaries Graphic Designers have the capability to earn what they desire annually. Graphic designers can start their careers with at least $40k annually whereas Photographers have to struggle just a little bit more to earn that much, because of the need for photographers. With the technology advancing as rapid as it is everyone think they are a photographer. Graphic Designer vs. Photographer Working Conditions The glories of become either a Graphic Designer or Photographer is the fact that you can contract your services to many different companies around the world. Even if you could not find work with a company you can keep working on the side, which more and more companies are starting to do, and start building your portfolio and create a name for yourself. Graphic Designers have more demand then photographers because there is an array of projects that Graphic Designers have other than Photoshop a photo. Graphic Designers can work from anywhere they please as long as there’s a computer with the required software. A photographer can also work anywhere with their camera but then needs a dark room with required chemicals to develop their film. June 19 th , 2011
