William Shakespeare’s
Othello,
the theme of deception is used many times by the antagonist,
Iago for his personal gain. Iago’s use of deception causes other characters to act and behave
impulsively which untimely allows him get others to do his bidding.
To begin with, Iago twits and manipulates the thoughts of other characters in order for
him to get his revenge. Othello is able to resolve conflict that arises and is confident in
Desdemona’s love for him. Othello lets Desdemona tell the court about their love and marriage:
“I do beseech you, /Send for the lady to the Sagittary” (1.3.114-115). Furthermore, Othello lets
Desdemona speak what she wants and
[ANALYSIS FOR OTHELLO IN ACT 1-2].
As a result
of Iago’s manipulation, Othello believes Desdemona has “turned to folly, and she [is] a whore”
