According to the North Carolina Board of Education, students need to begin preparing now for careers and college learning in the 21 st century (Public Schools of NC). As parents, we all want the best for our children. The Board says that students not only need to be able to compete with students of other states but with students of other countries as well. To be able to accomplish this feat, the North Carolina Board of Education has taken it upon them self to add another component, the North Carolina Graduation Project, to its high school exit standards (Public Schools of NC). We want our children to be successful in life but at what costs? In 2007, the North Carolina Board of Education approved a course of study called the Future-Ready Core. The Future-Ready Core program will be a one track system which prepares all students for college. Students will have to follow a more rigorous course of study to be able to graduate from high school. All totaled, students will be required to earn a minimum of 21 credit hours. Students will also be required to score proficient on the end-of-course assessments in Algebra I, Biology, English I, Civics and Economics, and US History. They must earn a passing score on a computer skills test and meet any additional requirements adopted by the local board of education. In addition, students must successfully complete the North Carolina Graduation Project (Public Schools of NC). The North Carolina Graduation Project is a performance assessment that is to be completed over the course of a students high school years. It consists of four components. These components are a research paper, a product, a portfolio, and an oral presentation. First, students have to write a five to eight page argumentative research paper. This paper is supposed to give the background for the product, portfolio, and presentation components of the Graduation Project. Second, students will create a product that is related to the research paper. The product

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
