Phenotypic Variation So far, we’ve been dealing with traits showing just 2 distinct phenotypes (i.e., red or white eyes) Many traits show continuous variation instead (i.e., white, light pink, pink, dark pink, red…) This can be due to additive genes (each gene adds more and more value) and/or environmental influences Quantitative genetics studies this continuous variation by using statistical analyses
