Major Assignment “The process or technique of promoting, selling, and distributing a product or service”, is Merriam-Webster’s definition for marketing. I find marketing very interesting because it’s about interacting with people and knowing how the economy works. Tara Pacheco, a senior at the University of Texas at Austin will be graduating with a marketing major in spring 2008. She will become a full time employee for TARGET. Her definition of marketing is “selling more to buy more and satisfy customer needs”. As Tara began her introductory classes at the McCombs School of Business, she began her process of elimination by determining what she liked the most to what she didn’t like at all. Her dream major before beginning at McCombs was International Business. Once she knew how it worked the idea wasn’t as exciting. She recommends we as students wait until our introductory classes to decide on a major because our idea of what we want can be totally different. I asked what skills she believed were required in order to pursuit marketing. She
