06 th Aug. 2011 Module 6 Critical Thinking Assignment Hinduism i. The Question of Origin - The question of origin in Hinduism is that of Brahman. Brahman was the one who created life on earth. Hindus believe in Brahman as its God. Brahman created the universe and is part of it. ii. The Question of Identity – In Hinduism, the question of identity is not a simple question. Hindus believe that based on ones Karma, depends on what one will reincarnate into. Every Hindu strives to achieve nirvana which is the highest level of purity one could achieve in Hinduism. The Hindu must first achieve moksha the state of salvation before one could reach nirvana. iii. The Question of Meaning/Purpose – The question of meaning/purpose in Hinduism is to reach nirvana. Hindus want to achieve nirvana because it is the state of rest for ones soul. That means the soul does not have to be reincarnated again it can rest. Hindus believe that one must come to understand that everything is an illusion. When one reaches moksha then one will reach nirvana and complete the cycle of understanding. iv.
