ACCT1001 Accounting 1A - Unit of Study Outline, S1 2010 2 2 Consultation Times: All tutor consultations are located in the Economics and Business Building (H69) on Level 3. Consultation times will be posted on Blackboard by the end of week 1 of semester. Students may attend the consultation times for any ACCT1001 staff member. Consultation outside of consultation times is by appointment only. Communication with Staff: Staff will not respond to e-mails on matters that should be posted on Blackboard (see section 2.2.4). Students should use the Blackboard discussion board, NOT EMAIL, to communicate with staff in all circumstances - except where the message involves communication of personal information. In these circumstances, students must ensure they use their University email account and include their name and student number in the email – emails from any other account will not be answered to ensure student privacy is respected and maintained. Classes: Time(s): Tuesday 4-6pm Venue: Bosh Lecture Theatre 3 Thursday 11-1pm Venue: Institute Lecture Theatre 1 Thursday 4-6pm Venue: Merewether Lecture Theatre 1 Friday 1-3pm Venue: Eastern Avenue Auditorium Classes are run in parallel. Faculty Handbook description Accounting 1A introduces students to the fundamentals of accounting and the double entry system of financial recording. Students examine the assumptions underlying the preparation of financial statements for external users and gain the skills necessary to prepare, interpret and analyse financial statements.
