SEXUALLY RELATED OFFENSES A recent multinational survey concluded that  each year in the United States 325,000 children  are subjected to some form of sexual exploitation. Because of these alarming statistics and also  because some sexual practices are believed to  cause social harm, some elements of sexual  conduct have been made illegal in the United  States and abroad.

PARAPHILIAS Paraphilias are bizarre or abnormal sexual practices  involving reccurent sexual urges focused on (a)  nonhuman objects, (b) humiliation or the experience  of receiving or giving pain, or (c) children or others  who cannot grant consent.  Included in the group of outlawed sexual behaviors  are these practices: 1. Asphyxiophilia 2. Frotteurism 3. Voyeurism 4. Exhibitionism 5. Sadomasochism 6. Pedophilia
