Problem #1: A Flow Meter Calculation (30 points) Water, considered an inviscid and incompressible fluid, flows steadily as shown in the figure. Determine the value of h . Problem #2: Two fluids driven between two plates (40 points) Two viscous fluids are pumped between plates separated by a distance of 2 h . The fluids are Newtonian, with constant viscosities and densities, μ 1 , ρ 1 , μ 2 , and ρ 2 . Fluid 2 fills the central portion of the channel while fluid 1 fills the outer portion of the gap between the plates as shown in the figure. Determine the relationship between the pressure drop and the volumetric flowrate. You will need to derive the velocity profile and integrate to give the volumetric flowrate.
