Mann 224 MAE Building B 123 MAE Building B (352)392-4550 (352)392-3264 [email protected]fl.edu Office Hours: MW 8:30–9:30AM Help Session: Wed-5pm Course Objective The objective for this course is for students to learn analytical, experimental, and numerical treat- ment of vibration phenomena. Topics include linear oscillator analysis (Laplace Transforms, com- plex harmonic balance, Fourier Transform, eigenvalue problems, modal analysis, simulation), ex- perimental methods, and an introduction to nonlinear dynamic systems. Free and forced vibrations of mechanical systems with lumped inertia, springs, and dampers are the primary emphasis. ISBN 0534-395104 Web Site: http://plaza.ufl.edu/bmann Evaluation Exam 1: 25% September 29 th Exam 2: 25% November 10 th Final: 30% T.B.A. Homework: 20% Weekly Assignments Homework assignments are due on at the beginning of class. Collaboration on homework problems is encouraged, but each person should submit his/her own work. Late homework is penalized 10% per weekday until solutions are web-posted (80% thereafter). Exams will be held during normal class times and will be based on class notes, reading, and especially homework. You may use a single 8.5” × 11” piece of paper for notes during the
