THE PREVALENCE OF SELFIES AMONG THE GENERAL POPULATION 2AbstractThe research seeks to determine the prevalence of selfies among the general population. The research identifies the different types of selfies and the type of selfies that are prevalent among the general population. For this purpose, the study uses data from a social media platformwith a significant number of users. The research uses data from Facebook to determine the types of selfies that are prevalent among the users of the social media platform. The users of Facebook represented the general population. The results of the study indicated that the most prevalent typeof selfies is group selfies. From the data, most Facebook users posted selfies at restaurants and movie theatres. Restaurants and movie theatres are places most visited by couples or friends. From the data, 80% of the population posted selfies from restaurants and movie theatres. The restof the users of the social media platform posted selfies from hotels and fitness places. Hotels and fitness places are places where people normally visit alone. This means that a smaller percentage of the population, 20%, post selfies alone. The study concluded that the most prevalent type of selfies is the group selfies.
