McDonald's mission statement is an example of a good mission statement: "McDonald's vision is to be the world's best quick service restaurant experience. Being the best means providing outstanding quality, service, cleanliness, and value, so that we make every customer in every restaurant smile." The mission statement focuses on the market, rather than a product (e.g. hamburgers), as well as the benefits sought by customers (e.g. “quality, service, cleanliness, and value”). WenPhil Corporation, a Phillipine Franchisee of Wendy's International, has a bad mission statement. Their mission statement declares: "To be the restaurant of choice --- the most preferred hamburger

The term restaurant of choice is too broad, whereas the term hamburger restaurant seems too narrow. In order to improve this mission statement, I would instead use a term such as fast food restaurant or quick service restaurant. I would also change Filipinos to customers. Although Filipinos do comprise the majority of the population within the Philippines, there are also Hispanic, Chinese, Japanese, Arab, Indian, and American residents, who are alienated by the current mission statement....
