1. The National Do Not Call Registry allows marketers to call virtually any number not listed on the registry. Even if a number is listed in the registry, marketers are still allowed to call the number for up to 31 days. Additionally, the National Do Not Call Registry lists exemptions for organizations that: call to solicit donations, call consumers with whom they have established a business relationship, call consumers whom they have received written permission to call, and conduct business-to-business calls. Under the business relationship exemption, a company may contact a consumer for up to 18 months after their last purchase, delivery, or payment or for up to up to 3 months after their last inquiry. Marketers’ efforts via other mediums (e.g. email, snail mail) are not restricted by the National Do Not Call Registry. 2. Marketers are not permitted to call a number that is listed on the National Do Not Call Registry for more than 31 days.
