Important Works of Basil: - On the Holy Spirit (A treatise on the Divinity of the Holy Spirit based on the Scriptures and Early Christian Tradition). - Against Eunomius , (363/364) - Great Ascetic - Lesser Ascetic - Sermons - Letters The Hexameron: A series of Lenten homilies (sermons) on the Creation of the world ( Genesis Chapter 1 and 2). They were probably delivered ex tempore. Medieval scholars (e.g. Photius) admired it as one of the finest works of Basil. It was translated in Latin quite early (5 th c.), and abbreviated in Anglosaxon in the 10 th c.
