HUM 100 Module Four Short AnswerAfter reading the articles on the Statue of Liberty, I am to reflect on how their discussion of intent and the changes to it affect my interpretation or understanding. I realized that I didn’t know much about something that is so iconic in our country. I, as so many other Americans, think that the Statue of Liberty was to represent immigration. It intrigues me to now have learned that the statue was gifted to the U.S. in hopes of other countries to embrace freedom as well as the U.S. did. I don’t think that was FrenchmanLaboulaye’s intent when the idea of the statue was discussed around his dinner table in 1865. Later in 1870 is when Bartholdi told the idea of the statue.
