Movie Paper Be Cool The movie Be Cool is about a rising musician named Linda Moon that is trying to make her name known when she crosses paths with Chili Palmer, a retired movie producer. The movie documents the trials and tribulations that the two must go through while trying to catch their big break. The movie stars big names such as: John Travolta, Uma Thurman, Vince Vaughn, Cedric The Entertainer, Steven Tyler, James Woods, and even The Rock. During the movie there are a plethora of sociological concepts that are discussed. The three that I am going to discuss in detail are deviant behaviors, socialization and characteristics of culture, and last but not least social power. Through out the course of the movie deviant behavior becomes a reoccurring theme. Brym and Lie define deviance as “ occurring when someone departs from a norm” (Brym: 662). Norms are relative to time and place and therefore dictate what deviant behavior. One example of deviant behavior and how the time and place decides it is in the movie when Raji is given the go ahead to hire a hit man to kill Chili Palmer. In my
