Week 3 Checkpoint – Modern challenges in Immigration The selection of immigrants should be first come first serve. If the proper paperwork and requirements are met then it should be those who are first on that list. There should be certain criteria that must be met in order to come into the country. Some of the criteria would have to eliminate some of the less desirable individuals. For instance anyone who cannot work, has a criminal background, or doesn’t possess the skills or knowledge needed to make a living here in the U.S. The United States shouldn’t be a catch all for those individuals who don’t contribute to the economic growth of the country. The country has plenty of individuals that need government assistance and the immigration requirements should eliminate those individuals that would require assistance. The preferences should not be given to those that are the top in any category. If it’s the neediest then tax dollars go to helping the world. There are plenty of needy individuals who are
