Week 7 – Checkpoint: The official language movement Some of the key points offered in “A study of the Official Language Movement offers support for America using only one official language which is English. For legal immigrants to become citizens they must pass a test on American history in English. Using this rule it should apply to all areas of our nation. It’s expensive to offer special teachers or forms in other languages to help those who do not speak English. It would help for any new citizens to adapt and learn English in order to function in American society. It would also help solve any confusion throughout daily life. This website is in support for one language of English. The “Impact of English Language Movement takes a look at the history of language laws. Manu states have instituted laws prior to the recent language movement. Some states adopted an English only approach while others became multilingual.
