Unformatted text preview: Katherine Vann Course Project Final Version 1 Siros, Blackwater, and Wales Investment Firm Siros, Blackwater, and Wales Investment Firm opened their doors to the public back in 1926. The firm has chosen to stay small and local and has also chosen to never become publicly traded until 2009. Katherine Vann Course Project Final Version 2 They deal with commodities, stocks, bonds, financial derivatives, and general foreign assets. The entire firm is composed twelve branches across the southern half of Georgia and the Northern half of Florida. The total number of employees active with Siros, Blackwater, and Wales equals their maximum cap of 216. (This includes the management, the board of directors and trustees, all financial advisors, and sales associates. This does not include those who are hired out through separate contracts such as maintenance employees.) Siros, Blackwater, and Wales Investment Firm was started by Andrew C. Siros and his brother- in-law Kramer J. S. Blackwater in 1926 in Jacksonville, Florida. In 1931 Franklin J. Wales joined the firm and completely rearranged the organizational structure. This created such a successful atmosphere that Siros and Blackwater voted for Wales join their board. In 2001 John Kael was elected to Chief Financial Advisor. The companys organizational chart will be included in this initial company analysis. A recommendation came from Jay D. Hanson, a prominent appointed chair member of the Securities and Exchange Commission, to Mr. Kael (back in November of 2010) stating that there was a need to incorporate a sexual harassment training program into the companys human resource manual. An outline of the prospective manual will also be included in the initial companys analysis.
