British Political Cartoon 2 British Political Cartoon The cartoon illustrated some of the overwhelming effects that American Civil War had on the nation. After the Civil War, the manufacturing industries competed over the supply of materials and their customer’s demands. When the cotton industries were cut off, manufacturers had to find a new source for their materials. The domestic economy changed during the Civil War and this cartoon illustrated it. Two men are fighting in an industrial doorway whereas another tense buyer is thinking about buying from another shop. This is a prime example of how imperialism increased and became more aggressive after the Civil War. The nation’s political system, economy, and the people’s values changed American moral were also hurt during the Civil War. The people believed that the Civil War had caused enormous moral decay. The
