De La Salle University College of Engineering Mechanical Engineering Department Ventura, Raissa   LBYME16 EE1 I. Title of Experiment: Experiment Number 2: Steam Calorimeter II. Analysis and Conclusion: In this experiment, the aim is to determine the quality of the steam through throttling or  superheating calorimeters using the heat balance equation and direct chart solution. Throttling  or superheating calorimeters are a type of steam calorimeters used to determine the amount of  moisture present in the steam. The data collected, such as the inlet and outlet temperatures,  pressure gage readings and the pressure readings of the calorimeter were taken 6 times for  each trial; 1 st  were at normal conditions, second at reduced to half inlet steam pressure with the  discharge valve fully opened and the third at an increased back pressure produced by throttling  the discharge valve to one-half the original value. Throttling the inlet and discharge valves result  to a change in pressure of the steam and thus the group is able to obtain the effect on the  readings caused by the throttling calorimeter. The quality of the steam can then be determined
