8/24/11 Introduction Pterygoplichthys spp., commonly known as “janitor fish”, is a suckermouth catfish of the family Loricariidae and it is endemic to South America. (Nico et. al., 2009, Armbruster and Page, 2006) It was assumed to be distributed and introduced through increasing globalization, tourism and pet trade. (Raghubanshi et. al., 2005)

8/24/11 There are two species of Pterygoplichthys spp. In the Philippines namely, Pterygoplichthys disjunctivus and Pterygoplichthys pardalis.
