Upper upper class: Born into money (old money) b. Lower upper class: Rich within lifetime (new money) Middle a. Middle Upper class: high paid professionals b. True Middle: Professor, manager, architecture c. Lower middle: lower paid professionals, but Not manual labor Low a. Working class- upper- Blue collar/manual labor b. Low low class- poor, working poor, homeless 2. Generative model of class - explains why class changes and how it reproduces over time Carl Marx (materialistic) - Dominations and exploitation - Economic position explains class structure and means of production - Means of production: all things that go into making goods
