Intro for Dr. Richard Lancia as the CNR nominee for the Board of Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching Dr. Richard Lancia has been on the NCSU faculty in the Fisheries & Wildlife Program for over 30 years. Over that time he has been the consummate teacher, mentor and scholar, providing leadership and service, not only for the College of Natural Resources, but also for the University. It is clearly evident from the comments of his former students and his colleagues that he has truly lived his teaching philosophy: Treat students with respect Learn by doing Establish your credibility Set expectations high More is not necessarily better Through these basic tenets which support creative teaching and learning environments, Dick has excelled in educating and preparing students for successful careers within the Fisheries and Wildlife disciplines.
