Unformatted text preview: Priority #2: CALS One-Time Allocation request Department of Genetics One-Time ETF Request for 09-10 Dissecting microscopes with fluorescence capabilities: $44,000 Background : The Department of Genetics acquired a second teaching laboratory space last academic year as part of the Gardner Addition renovation. Both teaching laboratories are currently used for GN 312 (Elementary Genetics Laboratory), a course required for several life sciences majors and the Genetics minor. The number of sections of GN 312 was increased by four last year and we anticipate going higher if resources permit. The new undergraduate Genetics major is scheduled for review at UNC-GA in fall 2009. A new laboratory course required for Genetics majors, GN 425 (Advanced Genetics Laboratory), will be offered for the first time in spring 2010.
