HUEC 1000 – Human Ecology as a profession The Basics of Human Ecology The General Catalog: The goal of Human Ecology is to improve the quality of life for families and individuals. This goal is express through all the disciplines in the School of Human Ecology. All Human Ecology majors have an applied science curriculum with a BS degree. The science learned in other disciplines (Biology, Chemistry, etc.) is synthesized and applied in actual situations. Academic Program Breakdown (pg 15, General Catalog): College: Agriculture School: Human Ecology Department or Curriculum: Nutritional Science Concentration: Nutritional Science Pre-Med Degree: BS Hours: 128 Undergraduate Minors (pg 24, General Catalog): Minor Code= SOCL Description= Sociology Dept. = Department of Sociology Some minors are built into programs. For example the Nutritional Science Pre- Med concentration has a built in Biology minor in which students must only earn a 3 hrs. at the 3000 level and complete BIOL 2051 General Microbiology.
