Session-7 Healthcare Fraud/Abuse, and Federal Regulation Overview: May I suggest before you look closely at the supporting materials for this session, Healthcare Fraud-Abuse Regulation, that you pay close attention to this slide presentation and the accompanying notes which are available in PDF format from the course website. If you wish to view the supporting materials they are provided; however, they are complicated and voluminous. We will make an overview of fraud and abuse laws applied in the medical profession. We will analyze the various laws against self-referral, anti-kickback, and false claims. We will also touch on the Qui Tam phenomenon where private individuals are bringing suit on behalf of the government. Finally we will end this session with a very quick overview of the large number of laws regulating business. The goal here is for you to gain a general understanding of the complex myriad of regulatory authorities controlling business.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
