ARE THE GREATEST LEADERS BORN OR MADE? 2 Are the Greatest Leaders Born or Made? Pace (2006) writes, “Leadership qualities are the personal traits that can help you be a good leader”. (The Workplace, p. 89). Great leaders possess great qualities such as intelligence, integrity, dedication, humility, openness, creativity, assertiveness, fairness, and a sense of humor to name a few. While many leaders possess many of these qualities, they may not possess them all as great leaders would or they may not be able to carry them as balanced as a great leader could. The greatest leaders are able to manage their qualities like a magician with a bag of tricks. The greatest leaders adapt their qualities to be pulled out and used at the right time, in the right context, with the right balance to get the right result. When a great leader is found, the masses adore him or her. When I think of recent great leaders, the names that immediately come to mind are John F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., and Princess Diana. There is no doubt that these three individuals were all great leaders in their
