2 GE Needs to Leave the US Corporate Profile General Electric‘s corporate headquarters is located at 135 Easton Turnpike in Fairfield, Connecticut in the United States. The company currently employs almost three hundred thousand employees with more than half located outside of the United States. Per the General Electric website, ge.com (2011), “GE is a global infrastructure, finance and media company taking on the world’s toughest challenges. From everyday light bulbs to cleaner, more efficient jet engines, GE has continually shaped our world with groundbreaking innovations for over 130 years”. (Our Company, 2011, para, 1). General Electric’s product and service lines are extensive and cover many industries. The company is working hard to incorporate themselves into every corner of the globe. General Electric has research and development locations headquartered in New York with other research and development operational plants located in Bangalore, India; Shanghai, China; Munich, Germany; and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In northern Asia, the company provides products and services to countries such as China, Japan, Pakistan, India, South Korea, and Taiwan. Per ge.com (2011), “With its accelerated growth rate and migration of population to urban areas, China is a market of tremendous opportunity for GE - particularly for our infrastructure businesses. GE's "Company to Country" strategy for China means localizing our business to China, building on local capabilities and developing local resources”. (Worldwide Activities, 2011, para 1). In Southeast Asia, GE is touching lives in countries such as Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines, and Thailand. Ge.com (2011) states, “GE has long been a vital part of the Southeast Asian economies. Today GE is supplying cutting-edge technology to hospitals in Malaysia; helping to build the infrastructure of Indonesia; providing clean energy and water solutions to the Philippines; building aircraft engines in Vietnam; and
