Management 16:21 The process of achieving desired results through the efficient utilization of human  and material resources - effectiveness : doing the right thing at the right time  - How are the two related?  Research shows efficient organizations tend to be effective ones. But efficiency is  not a guarantee of effectiveness the more you become concerned with efficiency, it  becomes harder to be effective.  Example: LSU and budget cuts. Ford X-type, ineffective but efficient McDonalds, ineffective.  What is the managers most important resource?  Human Resources -> your performance depends on someone elses  performance. Delegate.  Injellitance: (Northcote Parkinson) (Parkinsons Law) equal parts of incompetence  and jealousy.  Management is an Art and Science combined.  Equifinality: no one set road to success  Different styles of management can be successful. 3 styles : democratic,  autocratic, laissez-faire.  Effect of the industrial revolution : Change from skilled worker to machinery  Change from owner-manager to professional manager
