Knowledge about procedures and potential outcomes is more likely to lessen the stress and fear that Gerry has. I also believe that Gerry employs the cognitive control method already without telling his wife, if it has been a few days. I believe he has not told her because I believe she would notice a problem if he was unable to control his anxieties. Simultaneously, his history thanks to his father-in-law can cause him increased stress and demonstrate a need for cognitive control.
