WHAT I LEARNED 12 Jun 2010 The Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) I learned that in operations and supply management PMI is a leading indicator of economic activity. If a PMI is above 44.5%, over a period of time, indicates the overall economy or GDP is generally expanding; while a PMI below 44.5% indicates the GDP is generally declining. The distance from 44.5% indicates the strength of the expansion or decline.
