Theory of sexual selection says probably not How does sexual selection operate? Favors adaptations that promote mating success. Two modes o 1. Intra-sexual selection: use force or threat of force to exclude same-sex  individuals from mating Stronger on men: less strong on women o 2. Inter-sexual selection: use of ornaments to attract opposite-sex mates. Stronger on women: less strong on men
