Unformatted text preview: Goal of the paper Discussion The goal of the paper is for you to make a theoretically informed argument about why events in international relations occur in the way that they do . Organizing Your Argument C. In the first page of your paper (pg. 1), detail the event you are discussing (what is your issue be as specific as possible and draw on more than one source) D. In your paper, you must explain how three distinct theories would attempt to explain the same IR event. Essentially, compare and contrast how three theories would explain the event, and tell us which theory you believe provides the most compelling explanation. In order to do this, you must explain how advocates of each theory would answer the following set of questions (a-d): a. What was the cause (or causes) of the event? b. Why did it unfold as it did? c. Who are the key actors involved in the event? Explain why they are important. d. What is the anticipated future trajectory of the event? i.Do not discuss what policy you believe should be adopted in the future but rather, according to the theory you are employing, what should be reasonably expected to occur (what does the theory predict?).
