2012: Galactic Alignment Hoax Nearly every 26,000 years a galactic alignment occurs in which the path of the sun in the sky appear to cross through the midpoint of the Milky Way. On December 21 st , 2012 the next “galactic alignment” will occur and so too will the end of the world, predicted by the Mayan calendar. Although, it is hard to argue against the legitimacy and accuracy of the Mayan calendar, there is an alignment every winter solstice and if the world were going to end it for this specific reason it would have a long time ago. There is a lack of evidence supporting the actuality a galactic alignment or any other life threatening activities occurring in 2012. If true, the galactic alignment would disrupt the energy transferred from the galaxy to Earth and cause Earth’s ultimate demise. Without energy, the world would not be able to function and carry out their daily, lives ultimately ruining a society. The alignment would involve the December solstice sun and the Galactic equator. Also, some experts prophesize that this alignment will expose Earth to galactic forces that could destroy Earth or create a black hole in the center of our galaxy and end all life within it. Some
