Scott Pantoskey 4805420 2/23/11 R.L.L. #5: Ecological Footprint 1. We would need a total of five planet Earths to supply enough resources for the average person in the United States. Although, my ecological footprint is slightly less and if everyone lived like me, we would need 4.3 planet Earths to have enough resources. Some things that may account for differences in footprints include: the type of nation (industrialized or agricultural), amount of people in the nation, availability of resources, urban versus suburban lifestyles, and whether or not the country is a major distributor of goods and services. Also, my footprint, personally, may differ from the average person’s living in the United States because I ride my bike and skateboard a lot rather than depending busses and other forms of public transportation. I also do not have accessibility to a car at college so I am forced to ride my bike and I a good allowance so I am fortunate enough to spend more money on non processed, local goods than other less fortunate people in the U.S. 2.
