Madison Jesseman 11-8-10 Black Studies 118 Blacks and Chicanos in the Army during WWII and the War in Vietnam Topic : In my paper I will be discussing the unequal treatments given to blacks and browns as opposed to the treatments given to whites. Even though these minorities would go and give their lives in the U.S. army, when they returned home from the violence and segregation in other countries they were greeted with just as much intolerance if not more that they saw in the foreign lands. There are many stories and examples of how minorities were treated unjustly when they returned home. One example is the “Felix Longoria Act of 1948.” When the body of Felix Longoria was returned to Texas for burial, the local military cemetery refused to bury him because the cemetery was for “Whites only.” There are other concrete examples of when blacks were forced to the front lines of battle as if they were targets for the enemy during the Vietnam War. The problem is that minorities have fought and died just as hard as whites for their liberties, but when they
