MA 160 – Rose, Spring 2011   Daily Log Tuesday Jan 24 . Syllabus distributed and discussed.  We worked through the exercise  One Equals Zero, then reviewed the beginning of Chapter R.   HW R Pt 1 and HW R Pt  2 (MathXL) assigned.  Thursday Jan 26 .  MC closed due to weather.  HW R Pt 1 extended. Tuesday Feb 1 .  We went to the MSC computer lab and worked through the exercises  in MyMC Course Tools for MA 160.  We returned to the classroom and covered material  from section R4.  Then we began section 1.1.   For next Thursday’s class, read sections 1.1 and 1.2, begin the MathXL exercises, and  complete the handout Sec1.1, Evaluating Limits.  We will go over this handout in class.  All handouts can be found in the Feb 1 Handouts folder. There will be a quiz Thursday on Chapter R.  Questions will come from the MathXL  problems. Thursday Feb 3 .  We took the quiz, then continued with section 1.1 and section 1.2.  For Tuesday, read sections 1.3 – 1.5, and continue with MathXL assignments. Tuesday Feb 8 .  We finished drawing complete graphs; if you own a TI-84 and you  want the new operating system with Pretty Print, please visit my office hours! We reviewed the quiz, then covered material from sections 1.3 and 1.4: average rates  of change, difference quotients, instantaneous rates of change, derivatives. For next class, work on MathXL assignments from 1.3 and 1.4.  Test 1 will be next
