Orant, Good Shepherd) After Edict of Milan: Christianity grows into a world religion. Development of an official, public Christian art sponsored by emperor and Church. Churches are being built (i.e. St. Peter’s, S. Sabina, S. Maria Maggiore, S. Pudenziana) and decorated on a large scale with mosaics/frescoes on nave walls, triumphal arches and apses. Layout of Christian church based on that of the secular basilica (i.e. Basilica Ulpia) Mausolea with centralized plan and mosaics (i.e. S. Costanza (circle) and Galla Placidia (cross).
