Department of Architecture University of Florida Environmental Technology I ARC 3610 Gold |Kim| Kwon| Gabbard Spring, 2003 Homework Assignment 4 Solar Radiation and Shading This homework provides students with an opportunity to investigate and understand the Solar angles on a given site.. It is due at the beginning of lab on Tuesday, February 4 th 2003. The goal of this exercise is to acquaint students with the sun path diagram and its use in the design and selection of shading strategies. Solar radiation has a significant effect on thermal comfort and energy use by building mechanical systems. It is important for designers to have an understanding of how to manipulate the sun's radiant energy to decrease heating and cooling loads of buildings. For example, sunlight can be admitted during the winter to help heat the building. Direct radiant energy can also be excluded from buildings in the summer to reduce the amount of mechanical cooling needed. Use the sun path diagram for Gainesville (28 o NL), Florida to answer the following questions.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
