The U.S. was the only true superpower 1) Had all the “necessities” to force its will a) Economy, Military, etc (1) Iraq vs Iran (a) Gulf War (i) United States showed its superiority and why it was a  unipolar world (ii)  Laser-guided missiles, stealth bombers, etc were  introduced (iii) Sort of made up for the disaster that was Vietnam 2) Other countries were missing something a) Germany, Great Britain, France, Japan, China b) Russia obviously lost it B. Rise of New/Old Threats 1. Ethnic Conflict a. Former Soviet Republics 1) Fighting between the states 2. International Terrorism C. New Problems with Russia 1. The Dilemma of a weak Russia
