8/27/11 VIOLENT CRIME DATA  In 2009, the UCR estimated 1,318,398  violent crimes were committed in the U.S.  In comparison to 2008, in 2009 there was  a 5.3% decrease in estimated violent  crime.   In 2009, the UCR estimated that there  were 429.4 violent crimes per 100,000  inhabitants.

8/27/11 PROPERTY CRIME DATA In 2009, an estimated 9,320,971 property  crime offenses occurred in the U.S. In comparison to the 2008 estimates on  property crime, the 2009 estimates  decreased  by 5.5%.  In comparison to 2005,  the 2009 estimates decreased by 11.5%. In 2009, the UCR estimated the rate of  property crimes as 3,036.1 offenses per
