Lauren Brockmiller Halcomb Eng 111 8/9/10 The Art of Persuasion There have been many times in my life that I have used persuasion in my life. One of the more recent times was when I convinced or persuaded my parents to let one of my best friends come on one of our vacations with us. My mom was convinced not to have anyone else come. She had several legit reasons for thinking this. But I had good arguments for all of them. That’s all persuasion is, good arguments. The first argument my mom tried was “but we don’t have enough room in the car.” To this I responded “Then we can take my car. I’m going to be leaving for college soon, and that is six hours away, I need to get some distance driving experience.”

I thought about it for a while before replying Well Taylor can bring a friend since we have extra room in my car now! Morgan has Kaitlyn. Problem solved! Okay, tell Cassie she can come. Ill call Taylor and she if she has someone that wants to go. SCORE! Persuasion is always about your arguments and counter-arguments. Its something we do everday. Not just with other people, but also with ourselves. Every morning, it takes a lot of persuading myself to get to my 8 oclock class....
